Ninety-minute ballet classes at 455 Franklin Street in San Francisco.
If it is less than one hour before class and you have to cancel due to a sudden illness, please contact classes@sfballet.org and we can help you reschedule your missed class.
Our health and safety policy is currently aligned with San Francisco Department of Public Health and we no longer require mask. Since we know that wearing a well-fitting KN/N 94/95 is a strong defense against COVID, we encourage those who opt to wear a mask in common areas or during class time to continue to do so if that is their preference. This masking policy may change at any time.
Please don’t arrive any earlier than 15 minutes prior to class, or you will be asked to wait outside. Check-in will begin 15 minutes prior to class in the lobby. Class pre-registration is strongly recommended through MindBody via the app or the website as we cannot guarantee accommodation for walk-in students.

“I love dance, but I feel discouraged when I attempt standard classes, because there is so much I can’t do. Cecelia’s class highlighted that there is still much that I CAN do, and I really appreciated that.”
–Lacee Santos
“Cecelia has truly created a community among the regulars. The class means more to the participants than an exercise course only. But apart from the warmth that Cecelia imparts throughout the group, the class really is terrific exercise. I always feel much better after a class with Cecelia, and I know that the others feel the same.”
–Harriet Rafter
“It's a wonderful opportunity for those of us of a certain age who love ballet to participate in the art form.”
–Susie Tanner
“Gentle Ballet is a true gem. Cecelia has mastered the art of teaching ballet on Zoom.”
–Jane Weissman
STUDIO: SUNDAYS 11:30 AM–1:00 PM, SEPTEMBER 10–DECEMBER 10
This class is a different approach to Ballet and an opportunity to investigate and put into practice your technical abilities, as well as to discover more about your dancing.
In this class, students will warm up at the barre incorporating contemporary vocabulary and concepts that will later be developed.
After barre and instead of center work, we will work on ballet-based choreographed phrases exploring the articulation of the spine, mobility of the upper body, musicality, directional changes, speed, and intention, developing new skills and expanding our practice and curiosity.
This class is recommended for Intermediate to Advance Dancers. Pointe shoes are not recommended for this class.
