SF Ballet School ON STAGE
From May 24—26, please join San Francisco Ballet School as we celebrate Patrick Armand’s final season as School Director and the 90th anniversary of the SF Ballet School at the SF Ballet School 2023 Spring Festival. Held at the Blue Shield Theater at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for this year’s event will include three evenings of SF Ballet School ON STAGE performances, a fundraising dinner on Thursday, and more opportunities to learn about ballet.
SF Ballet School ON STAGE will honor the school’s history and bright future by featuring different programs across three evenings of performances from May 24 to 26. Embracing the School and Company’s history on this important milestone, Armand has staged a scene from Lew Christensen’s Beauty and the Beast. The limitless future of the school will be showcased with a world premiere from former student and current SF Ballet Company member Myles Thatcher, alongside premieres from SF Ballet School student choreographers. Including a short demonstration by students in Levels 2–8 choreographed by Karen Gabay, upper-level students and Trainees will perform Stolen Moments from choreographer Val Caniparoli, and pieces choreographed by School Faculty members including Dana Genshaft’s Stereo is King, Viktor Plotnikov’s We…, and Larissa Ponomarenko’s Frescoes.
